The initiative represents the collective input of over one hundred global thought leaders from academia, science, government and corporate sectors in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, ethics, philosophy, and policy. The purpose of is to ensure every technologist is educated, trained, and empowered to prioritize ethical considerations in the design and development of autonomous and intelligent systems.
DataEthics.eu/Gry Hasselbalch is member of the personal data and individual access control committee.
In the Tech Crunch article IEEE puts out a first draft guide for how tech can achieve ethical AI design the charter is described:
“The 136-page document is divided into a series of sections, starting with some general principles — such as the need to ensure AI respects human rights, operates transparently and that automated decisions are accountable — before moving onto more specific areas such as how to embed relevant “human norms or values” into systems, and tackle potential biases, achieve trust and enable external evaluating of value alignment.”
The IEEE Global Initiative for Ethical Considerations in Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems (“The IEEE Global Initiative”) is a program of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Incorporated (“IEEE”), the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity with over 400,000 members in more than 160 countries.
