Responses white paper on public procurement

DataEthics.eu’s white paper on AI in public procurement has been forwarded to EU policymakers.

First response we have received is from the European Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton who writes (26th of May 2020): “..I was very pleased to receive your White Paper on data ethics in public procurement of AI technologies. I read with interest the proposals suggesting a framework for integrating data ethics considerations and impact assessments into the public procurement of AI based products and services, as a way of promoting trustworthy AI. The European Commission shares your concerns and objectives to develop trustworthy and humancentric AI that respects our European values. Your valuable contribution has been passed on to the team responsible for the public consultation on the AI White Paper. All submissions to consultation assist us with the task of refining the legal requirements in this area….”
