{"id":15782,"date":"2024-09-25T12:26:36","date_gmt":"2024-09-25T11:26:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dataethics.eu\/?p=15782"},"modified":"2024-09-25T16:52:24","modified_gmt":"2024-09-25T15:52:24","slug":"no-more-firefox-browser","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dataethics.eu\/da\/no-more-firefox-browser\/","title":{"rendered":"No More Firefox Browser"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>For years, DataEthics.eu has recommend the use of the Firefox browser, run by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mozilla.org\/da\/\">Mozilla Corporation<\/a>, which is affiliated with the non-profit <a href=\"https:\/\/foundation.mozilla.org\/en\/\">foundation Mozilla<\/a>. Unfortunately, and probably because Mozilla is looking into a big decline in revenue, the browser has put on tracking-by-default according to Noyb.eu who has filed a <a href=\"https:\/\/noyb.eu\/en\/firefox-tracks-you-privacy-preserving-feature\">complaint <\/a>against Mozilla:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, <em>noyb<\/em> filed a complaint against Mozilla for quietly enabling a supposed \u201cprivacy feature\u201d (called Privacy Preserving Attribution) in its Firefox browser. Contrary to its reassuring name, this technology allows Firefox to track user behaviour on websites. In essence, the browser is now controlling the tracking, rather than individual websites. While this might be an improvement compared to even more invasive cookie tracking, the company never asked its users if they wanted to enable it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For years, Mozillas main income has come from Google, who is paying a lot of money to have it&#8217;s search engine as a default search engine in the Firefox browser. Google is also paying Apple for that in their Safari browser.
