Men de tjener samtidig penge p\u00e5 annoncer p\u00e5 sites med fake news, viser artikler og rapporter.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Af Mie Oehlenschlager og Pernille Tranberg<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sociale medier er blevet kaldt \u2018de nye gatekeepere\u2019 for nyheder &#8211; men modsat publicistiske medier er der p\u00e5 sociale medier ikke en ansvarshavende redakt\u00f8r, der s\u00f8rger for at tjekke alt indhold og garanterer for sandhedsv\u00e6rdi eller legalitet, ligesom der ikke er krav om nedtagning af ulovligt indenfor en bestemt fastsat tidsgr\u00e6nse. Derfor findes der mange fake news p\u00e5 Big Techs platforme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Google st\u00e5r for 96 procent af danskernes s\u00f8gninger via s\u00f8gemaskiner, og virksomheden tjener penge p\u00e5 at f\u00e5 folk ind p\u00e5 deres s\u00f8gemaskine, hvor de tre \u00f8verste forslag vil <a href=\"https:\/\/politiken.dk\/viden\/art9208658\/Google-chef-beroliger-kritikere-af-\u00bbvanvittig\u00ab-datah\u00f8st.-Men-til-annonc\u00f8rerne-fort\u00e6ller-Google-en-ganske-anden-historie\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">v\u00e6re betalte annoncer<\/a>. If\u00f8lge ProPublica generende Google i 2022 en rekordstor oms\u00e6tning p\u00e5 257 milliarder US dollars, hvor st\u00f8rstedelen af pengene kom fra akt\u00f8rer, der betaler for at placere annoncer p\u00e5 Googles egne produkter.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En ting er de lukrative annoncer p\u00e5 Googles s\u00f8gemaskine. Noget andet er, n\u00e5r Big Tech placerer kunders annoncer p\u00e5 andre websites. I 2021 tjente Google if\u00f8lge ProPublica 31 milliarder US dollars p\u00e5 at placere kunders annoncer p\u00e5 mere end to millioner andre websteder rundt om i verden. De er alle en del af det, som virksomheden kalder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.propublica.org\/article\/google-alphabet-ads-fund-disinformation-covid-elections\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u2018Google Display Network&#8217;<\/a> &#8211; som best\u00e5r af mere end to millioner websites, videoer og apps, hvor annoncer kan vises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-luminous-vivid-amber-background-color has-background\"><a href=\"https:\/\/counterhate.com\/research\/greenwashing-google-big-oil\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">En rapport<\/a> fra Center for Countering Digital&nbsp;Hate i november 2022 finder, at Google spiller en aktiv rolle i greenwashing sammen med olieselskaberne: \u201c<em>n\u00e6sten halvdelen af de 23,7 millioner dollars, som olie- og gasselskaberne har brugt p\u00e5 Google-s\u00f8gesannoncer i de sidste to \u00e5r, har v\u00e6ret rettet mod s\u00f8getermer om milj\u00f8m\u00e6ssig b\u00e6redygtighed (\u2026) Google s\u00e6lger s\u00f8getermer til den h\u00f8jestbydende, uanset konsekvenserne,<\/em>\u201d skriver Center for Countering Digital Hate. P\u00e5 baggrund af en r\u00e6kke analyser konkluderer rapporten at &#8220;<em>Google er ikke blot medskyldig i den seneste misinformations-kampagne fra fossilbr\u00e6ndsels-industrien, men (Google) profiterer ogs\u00e5 aktivt af dette bedrag<\/em>&#8220;.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Annoncer p\u00e5 websites med fake news&nbsp;<\/strong><br>Samtidig med at Google har v\u00e6ret doneret 300 millioner dollars (annonceret i 2018), til at \u201c<em>bek\u00e6mpe misinformation, st\u00f8tte faktatjek-tjenester og hj\u00e6lpe journalistikken med at trives i den digitale tidsalder<\/em>\u201d, s\u00e5 leverer Googles kerneannoncevirksomhed kritiske indt\u00e6gter, der sikrer, at offentligg\u00f8relsen af sites med usandheder og misinformation fortsat er rentable &#8211; ogs\u00e5 selv om de g\u00e5r imod techvirksomhedernes egne politikker. Det handler if\u00f8lge den amerikanske non-profit, Campaign for Accountability om, at <a href=\"https:\/\/campaignforaccountability.org\/work\/how-google-makes-millions-off-of-fake-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Google ogs\u00e5 tjener penge<\/a> p\u00e5 at finansiere websites, der deler misinformation. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.propublica.org\/article\/google-ads-misinformation-methodology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ProPublica har ogs\u00e5 dokumenteret<\/a>, at udgivere af misinformation profiterer af Googles annoncesystemer, selvom de offentligg\u00f8r falske p\u00e5stande om fx. COVID-19, klima\u00e6ndringer og andre emner i \u00e5benlys strid med Googles politikker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lidt baggrund<\/strong><br>Tilbage i 2016 efter det amerikanske pr\u00e6sidentvalg lovede Google at forhindre reklamer i at blive vist p\u00e5 websites, der promoverede falske nyheder. Men<a href=\"https:\/\/campaignforaccountability.org\/work\/how-google-makes-millions-off-of-fake-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> if\u00f8lge en rapport fra<\/a> non-profit organisationen Campaign for Accountability fra 2017 forsatte Google med at placere annoncer p\u00e5 hyperpartiske og vildledende websites, hvilket resulterede i millioner af dollars i indt\u00e6gter. I 2021 offentliggjorde Google en politik, der skulle forbyde \u201c<em>annoncer, som fremmer ben\u00e6gtelse af klimakrisen<\/em>\u201d. Google\u2019s administrerende direkt\u00f8r, Sundar Pichai, erkl\u00e6rede, at &#8220;<em>n\u00e5r folk kommer til Google Search med sp\u00f8rgsm\u00e5l om klima\u00e6ndringer, vil vi vise autoritative oplysninger fra kilder som FN<\/em>\u201d (egen overs\u00e6ttelse). Men en unders\u00f8gelse fra Countering Digital Hate fra december 2022 viser, at eksempelvis mediet The Daily Wire, som er grundlagt af den konservative Ben Shapiro (tidligere chefredakt\u00f8r for mediet Breitbart), har betalt Google for at annoncere p\u00e5 s\u00f8gesider, hvor der blev sat sp\u00f8rgsm\u00e5lstegn ved, om klimakrisen er reel. The Daily Wire k\u00f8bte i l\u00f8bet af 2022 annoncer p\u00e5 Google-s\u00f8getermer som &#8220;climate change is a hoax&#8221; og &#8220;why is climate change fake&#8221;, hvilket bet\u00f8d, at n\u00e5r folk googlede disse s\u00e6tninger, var historier fra Shapiros medie <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2023\/jan\/27\/daily-wire-google-ads-climate-crisis-deniers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nogle af de f\u00f8rste resultater<\/a>, der blev vist.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>P\u00e5 samme m\u00e5de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.propublica.org\/article\/google-guns-ads-firearms-alphabet-advertising\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rapporterede ProPublica<\/a> i juni 2022 at: \u201c<em>Teknologigiganten (Google) har l\u00e6nge pralet med, at den ikke accepterer annoncer for skydev\u00e5ben, men en ProPublica-analyse viser, at Googles annoncesystemer viste mere end 100 millioner annoncer fra v\u00e5benproducenter<\/em>\u201d. Virksomheden har ogs\u00e5 vist annoncer p\u00e5 20% af de artikler om klima\u00e6ndringer, som Science Feedback, en IFCN-akkrediteret organisation til faktatjek, har vurderet som falske.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I en artikel fra 2021 beskriver <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technologyreview.com\/2021\/11\/20\/1039076\/facebook-google-disinformation-clickbait\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Technology Review\u2019s techrapporter<\/a> Karen Hao i artiklen \u201cHow Facebook and Google fund global misinformation,\u201d at Google og Facebook betaler millioner af dollars til operat\u00f8rerne af clickbait-sider med fake news og dermed finansierer &#8220;forringelsen af informations\u00f8kosystemerne rundt om i verden\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Google fort\u00e6ller if\u00f8lge ProPublica, at de har fjernet et stort antal fake news artikler og at de har \u201c<em>udviklet omfattende foranstaltninger til at bek\u00e6mpe misinformation p\u00e5 vores platform, herunder politikker, der d\u00e6kker valg, COVID-19 og klima\u00e6ndringer, og vi arbejder p\u00e5 at h\u00e5ndh\u00e6ve vores politikker p\u00e5 over 50 sprog (\u2026) I 2021 fjernede vi annoncer fra mere end 1,7 milliarder udgiversider og 63.000 websteder p\u00e5 verdensplan. Vi ved, at vores arbejde ikke er f\u00e6rdigt, og vi vil fortsat investere i vores h\u00e5ndh\u00e6velsessystemer for bedre at kunne opdage up\u00e5lidelige p\u00e5stande og beskytte brugere over hele verden<\/em>.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Det Google ikke rigtigt redeg\u00f8r for er, hvilke websites eller udgivere, de har truffet foranstaltninger imod eller de lande og sprog, de opererer i og p\u00e5. Det er stadig i en sort boks lukket for offentligheden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background\"><strong>I juni 2023 udgiver DataEthics.eu en journalistisk rapport \u201cBig Techs Soft Power I Danmark\u201d. Artiklen her handler ikke om Danmark, men det g\u00f8r rapporten. Den  st\u00f8ttes af Drejers Fond, Borgerretsfonden, Jyllands-Posten Fonden, Politikens Fond og forbundet Kultur og Information. Den tager et spadestik ned i, hvordan big tech st\u00f8tter akademia, publicistiske medier og t\u00e6nketanke.
