Event: In 2015 the United Nations appointed its first Special Rapporteur on the right to privacy. Professor Joe Cannataci was appointed as the new rapporteur following a period of worldwide call outs from organizations and institutions for a renewed UN emphasis on the right to privacy. His core task is to gather information, raise awareness and report back to the UNs Human Rights Council on privacy rights implications and violations.
The Special Rapporteur will guest Denmark for the first time on June 13th 2016. The event is organized by DataEthicsEU in cooperation with the Danish Institute of Human Rights and will among others include an afternoon key note open to the public.
